Privacy Policy

The short version: Jabe has no account system and collects no personal data about you. Your journal entries never leave your device. The messages you send in chat are relayed through Jabe's secure relay (a Cloudflare Worker) to the Groq AI service to generate a reply — that, plus mood labels if you request a Weekly Insight, is everything that leaves your phone. The relay does not store your messages. We do not track you, sell your data, or require an account.

Overview

Jabe Wellness AI ("Jabe", "the app", "we") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

Information We Do Not Collect

Jabe never collects, receives, or stores:

Your name, email address, or any account information
Your location
Your Apple advertising identifier or any identifier that names you
Advertising or tracking identifiers
Any biometric data

Jabe has no user accounts or profiles. To protect the AI service from abuse, your messages pass through a small relay that Jabe runs on Cloudflare. The relay does not store, log, or read the content of your conversations, and the developer of this app receives none of your content — not your conversations, not your journal, not your moods. To confirm a request comes from a genuine copy of Jabe, the relay keeps one anonymous record for each installation (Apple App Attest): a randomly generated key ID, that key's public half, and a counter. It contains no name, email, account, or conversation content. This record has no expiry, and deleting the app does not remove it, but it is not tied to you.

What Stays On Your Device

The following is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device storage, and is never uploaded, backed up to a Jabe server, or shared with anyone:

Your saved chat session history
Your journal entries, including anything written in the Reframe Your Thoughts exercise
Your mood tracking data and check-in streak
App preferences and settings

Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of this data.

What Leaves Your Device

Two things, both only in direct response to something you do:

Chat messages you send. The text goes to the Groq API to generate a reply, as described below. Your saved chat history stays on the device; only the conversation you are actively having is sent.
Mood labels and their dates, if you tap to generate a Weekly Insight. Never the text behind them.

AI Conversations (Groq API)

Jabe uses the Groq API to power its AI responses. When you send a message, the text of your conversation is transmitted to Groq's servers solely to generate a response. This transmission:

Carries no account, name, or email. It is sent with a short-lived, anonymous verification token (from Apple App Attest) so the relay can tell it came from a genuine copy of Jabe — Jabe has no account system, so nothing links a message to you personally. The message text itself is whatever you choose to write, so please avoid including details you would not want a third-party AI provider to process.
Is not stored or used by Jabe beyond generating your response
Is processed by Groq under a zero-data-retention setting, which means Groq does not store the content of requests
Is subject to Groq's own privacy policy at groq.com/privacy

Jabe does not use your conversations for training, analytics, or any other purpose.

Weekly Insight

The optional Weekly Insight in the Insights tab is generated by the same Groq API. When you tap to generate one, Jabe sends only your recorded mood labels (for example "Anxious") and the dates they were recorded. The text of your journal entries and the contents of your saved conversations are not included and never leave your device.

Microphone & Speech Recognition

If you use the voice input feature, Jabe requests access to your microphone and uses Apple's speech recognition to transcribe your speech to text. Jabe explicitly requests on-device transcription, so on any device that supports it your voice audio is processed locally and never sent anywhere. On a device or language where Apple's on-device recognition is unavailable, iOS may transcribe using Apple's servers instead. In either case your voice audio is:

Never recorded, stored, or transmitted by Jabe
Handled entirely by Apple's speech recognition system, subject to Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/privacy

Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, Jabe schedules a local notification entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to any external server.

Jabe does not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or any third-party tracking services.

Children's Privacy

Jabe is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes in the future, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last Updated" date.
